As expected, Unity is comprised of a top panel and the dock (application launcher). The system will prompt users with an informational screen about useful keyboard shortcuts, so they can navigate the system quickly. It is based on the well known Debian GNU/Linux operating system and built around the GNOME desktop environment, but using a custom user interface as its desktop environment, called Unity. Ubuntu is a freely distributed and open source Linux-based operating system designed by human beings for human beings, people who have no previous knowledge of Linux OSes and expect a solid computing experience.
