I usually install "Search Everything" from. I have messed around with the command prompt and I can get a list of all files with: dir N: /S /A:-d. Basically I have to verify that a percentage of these files for each date created were put in the right place, check for quality, etc. On the other hand, if you have files all over the place, across several hard drives, a free file search tool is a must. I have to do an audit on all the files on a specific drive (N:) that were created in 2015. Options like "Last week" and "yesterday".Įvery version of windows explorer gets worse and worse at searching. If you've always been great at naming and organizing the hundreds or thousands (or more) files on your computer, you might need one of the programs. On the second server, when I click in the search box, it has buttons I can click, one is "Date Modified" but they only have predefined Tells me it did not bring back all results because there are too many and the results window is too awkward to navigate.
On one of them, I can't seem to get any advanced search options until I type at least one character in the name of the file I am searching for (but I want to search all files). Is this possible without 3rd party software? I want to see if there is anything unusual. Summary: Use Windows PowerShell to find files that were modified during a specific date range. I just want to see all the files that have been modified on my Windows Server 2008 since December 1, 2010.
